Basketball 2021/2022 Season

Program: 2021/2022 Youth Basketball 

Open to:

  • Girls - Kindergarten through 6th grade
  • Boys - Kindergarten through 9th grade


  • 9th graders who turned 15 before Sept. 1, 2021 are not eligible to play.
  • Kindergarteners must turn 5 before Sept. 1, 2021 to be eligible to play (no exceptions).

  • All dates and times are subject to change depending on Coaches’ status and Gym availability.

  • ALL Basketball players need to attend their designated Observation times.

  • Failure to attend Observations will result in the player being randomly selected for a team.

  • If your child is unable to attend their Observation for any reason, please contact Nik via email at

  • Location: 

    • K - 3rd Grade: Thompson Intermediate School Gym, 1509 Kent Dairy Road, Alabaster***

    • 4th - 9th Grade: Thompson’s Auxiliary Gym (former TIS), 10019 Hwy. 119, Alabaster

  • Balls: Please do not bring any balls to the gym. We will provide all balls necessary for the Observations.

  • There will be no fittings; however, there will be uniform samples at Observations if you would like to confirm your child’s sizes. 
  • Samples will be available on Monday, Oct. 18th, at Buck Creek Field House.

  1. League Information

Playing Time

  • All participants will play a minimum of 25% of each game.



Kindergarten – 2nd Grade (Girls & Boys – Coed teams)


  • Kindergarten will play in their own league. 
  • 1st and 2nd grade will be combined in one league.  
  • The leagues will be coed.
  • The rules will be modified to allow the children an opportunity to succeed.        
  • Goals will be lowered to allow the children a chance to learn the proper mechanics of shooting a basketball.  
  • PRACTICES: One to two practices per week during the week.
  • GAMES: One per week on Saturdays with the possibility of one weeknight game.
  • Location: Alabaster will play with Calera and Montevallo resulting in games being played in those cities as well as Alabaster.   



3rd – 6th Grade Girls


  • Registration numbers will dictate a lot in our girl’s leagues.  
  • Each grade will have their own team unless the number of participants dictates otherwise. 
  • You will receive more information as it becomes available on our girl’s leagues.  
  • PRACTICES: One to two per week on weeknights and weekends depending on your coach.
  • GAMES: One to two per week on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
  • Location: We are part of the Pelham Girls League so all games will be played in Pelham and Chelsea.



3rd – 6th Grade Boys


  • 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will be separate.  
  • PRACTICES: One to two per week on weeknights and weekends depending on your coach.
  • GAMES: One to two per week on weeknights and/or Saturdays. 
  • Location: Alabaster will play with Pelham, Helena, Montevallo, and Calera resulting in games being played in those cities as well as Alabaster.   



7th, 8th, and 9th Grade (Boys only)


  • This league will be gender specific.
  • This league will start a little later than the younger leagues to accommodate children who are trying out for the Middle School team.  
  • PRACTICES: One to two per week on weeknights and weekends.
  • Location: Games will be played in Chelsea.
  • Middle School Try Outs: If you are trying out for the Middle School team, please call our office to place your name on our Player List. You will have 5 business days after the school team selection is complete to submit a completed registration form to us along with your payment. After the 5-day period, a $25 late fee will be charged.
